How long is the program?
The program runs for 10 weeks.
When do you offer classes?
We have three terms: Fall, Winter and Spring. We do not offer summer classes . For class start dates please click here.
- Tuesday evenings: from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm
- Saturday mornings: from 10:00am to 12:30 pm.
How many hours are the classes?
Each class is 2 ½ hours and this includes a 15 minute break. Altogether there is 25 hours of instruction.
Who is teaching these classes?
Our instructors are from all over the Spanish speaking world. They are University graduates and have teaching experience in Latin America and Spain. Additionally, some hold Alberta professional teaching certificates.

Is there parking?
Yes, there is ample parking around the school, free afer 6 pm weekdays and all day Saturdays.
How do you get there by bus or LRT?

Do you offer private classes or tutoring services?
Yes, we offer private classes: individual, group or corporate. Write to info@ehba.org or call 780-472-0532 for more information.
Does the Edmonton Hispanic Bilingual Association offer ESL to native Spanish speakers?
No. For ESL classes look at Norquest, Grant MacEwan, Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers or University of Alberta.

Are there final exams or any tests?
There is a short test (oral and written) at the end of each course lesson–about three per course in the new program. We do offer advice and placement tests to help in the evaluation process. In advanced courses, there is no test.
Does the Edmonton Hispanic Bilingual Association give “Letters of Attendance” or Certificates?
We give “Letter of Attendance” or Certificates only by request. Please submit a written request to the Registration Officer at info@ehba.org.
What other activities do you offer?
The school offers many social activities such as dance workshops, potluck dinners, cultural extravaganzas and our famous annual Latin Fiesta. We also have after class gatherings to give students the opportunity to meet our staff and other students as well as practice their Spanish. To see a list of our social activities please click here.
How long does it take to learn Spanish?
After the first class you should be able to speak. It depends on the person. It depends on how dedicated a student is towards learning another language. How much time a student is willing to spend learning all the lessons and practicing outside of class time.

Please note: this is only a part time position.
The program is once a week, for 10 weeks, a total of 25 hours of instruction. Each class is two hours and 15 minutes long–allowing for a 15-minute break halfway through class. Coffee, refreshments and Latin food are available during the class break..
