Jorge Vargas
Instructor (Level 1)
Jorge Vargas was born in Santiago, Chile and holds a B.Ed. from the Universidad de Santiago. He has experience teaching Spanish, English, and Music at different educational institutions. Jorge directed choirs for six years before moving to Canada back in 1988. In Edmonton, Jorge Vargas worked for Alberta Culture and Multiculturalism for 3 years as a research assistant, and for the Edmonton Public School Board in Continuing Education as a language instructor.

Jorge has been a teacher at Jasper Place High School since 2002, where he currently works. Additional experience includes teaching at the University of Alberta from 2000 to 2011, where he taught Spanish in levels 100, 200 and 300.

Jorge has worked and collaborated with the Edmonton Hispanic Bilingual Association for a number of years, He is currently teaching in level 1 of our program, and he is a frequent entertainer during our class breaks at McKernan School, bringing his talent and experience as a musician (guitar player). Students often get the chance to listen to Jorge's music while having a relaxing moment to chat with classmates and people from other levels.
